Annotation Examples and Ideas
This page is part of the SITES CITE, a clearinghouse for courseware and instructional tool resources and information.
The annotation module involves more direct engagement with the develoment of the online resources on the part of the instructor. In turn, it faciliates activities ranging widely from textual studies, to criticism, to online instruction. If you wish to adapt an annotation module for class activities and would like more advice, contact Daniel (iamdan@unc.edu). Otherwise, gather ideas from the examples below.
Bill Andrews uses the annotation module to promote discussion of key passages of class texts.
Daniel Anderson uses the annotation module to place students in editorial roles as they develop a collaborative Web resource for literature.
Another example enables class textual studies by asking students to digitize, edit and post literary texts as part of class activities.
