This project has been designed to maximize perl scripts and the latest Web browser technology in order to open up the text of The Open Boat to interaction with readers. There are some known problems and incompatibilities.

Problems with the annotation function:

The annotation script finds only the first occurence of an annotation phrase in every section.

To annotate a word that occurs later or multiple times in any section, select a more distinct phrase to serve as the annotation link.

The annotation script has trouble processing characters like !.

If annotating a section of the text that contains characters fails, select an alternate phrase to serve as the annotation link.

We have not been able to test every browser, but there are some known bugs and incompatibilities. Here is a list of popular browsers and information about their compatibility with this project.
