September, 1928 -- Superintendent Johnstone leaves Loray Mill

September, 1929 -- NTWU organized in New Bedford, New Jersey

April 1, 1929 -- NTWU organizer Fred Erwin Beal declares strike at Loray Mill.

April 2, 1929 -- Mill Superintendent Baugh presented with list of union's demands.

April 3, 1929 -- North Carolina National Guard deployed by O. Max Gardner.

April 17, 1929 -- Masked men (50-250, estimated) ransack the NTWU headquarters.

May 6, 1929 -- Evictions from mill village announced.

June 5, 1929 -- Confederate Pageant in Charlotte.

June 7,1929 -- Chief Adderholt killed.

June 9, 1929 -- Charlotte Wilder (Smith College) arrested on suspicion of unionizing.

August 26 -- Set as commencement date for trial of 14 "accused murderers."

September 9, 1929 -- one of Adderholt case jurors found to be "crazy."

September 14, 1929 -- Ella May Wiggins shot.

Sept. 25, 1929 -- Coroner's inquest on Wiggins held over until October 16.

October 20, 1929 -- Jury finds defendants guilty (seven of them)

Feb. 24, 1930 -- Wiggins trial opens.

April 21-- 22, 1930 -- NC Supreme Court hears Adderholt appeals.
