Army Life
We had these family tapes I used to listen to in the late 60s, reel to reels. There were two spools that I can recall. They were some kind of mix of union songs and protest music. I have no idea where we came by them, but my brothers and sometimes my parents would play them pretty regularly. At the time I took in the rough sounds and the humor pretty directly through the ears, but the messages of resistance also seeped in. My brother recently salvaged the tapes and sent us all CDs. Here is a chunk that is sadly appropriate again.
