Screen Tutorials
It seems as if screen recording software might allow one to write about writing with media. The self-reflective nature of the prose we compose becomes rhetorical theorizing as we direct that prose toward the subject of writing. What does it mean to write? How do we do it? How does it affect us and others?
With new media composition, we may need a similar self reflective composition lens. Up till now, I've only used screen captures to create specific compositions, geared toward teaching technical and conceptual skills. These skill set screen recordings are well and good, but I don't think they qualify as new media writing about new media writing--what would it take to translate them into new media theory? Will have to chew on that. Here are some of the latest video tutorials I have written:
Reading Texts,
Finding Images,
Composing Texts, and
Using Images in Word ProcessorsThese tutorials require Flash 7; if you have trouble viewing them, you can download the plugin.
