A pusher of writing
Things shift messy in blog space--mostly because the blurring of writing is these days a mess. I've been working on the underlying CSS and index code to make this space represent at least something close to my thinking about writing in the media age. I want to have space for media mish-mash, but don't think columns do it justice. I'm not able to internalize the role of the blog structures in this composition space--the track back, the comment, the category, and the archive. How best might one layer these pieces into the overall space?
I've reverted to tweaking the code in Dreamweaver and then uploading it back to the blog. My code skills are rusty and I've just become more of a visual writer--though I think coding textually can be visual with the simple extension offered by display of the code. Also, I'm a big believer in the notion that multiliteracy is really about bouncing around, so I might argue that moving snippets from dreamweaver forth to the blog template or back into the GUI represents the kind of fluid process that is essential to today's writing.
And then there is the transience of it all. The look and feel of this space has shifted dozens of times even this morning. How will pushers of writing track and reflect upon such moving targets. It might be good to record the composing as it happens. Track and collect somethings to fold into the mix of the composition. The blog, or I, will likely gag on the self reflexiveness at some point, but hopefully some stomach gurglings will offer warning and things can veer away--just in time.
